About
Cupping is a therapy used in traditional Chinese medicine that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The suction may facilitate healing with blood flow. It's often used for pain relief, to improve circulation, and to help with relaxation and well-being. In this therapy, cups can be made of glass, bamboo, earthenware, or silicone, and are applied to the skin after being heated or creating a vacuum. This process draws the skin slightly up into the cup, believed to help mobilize blood flow and promote healing for a range of conditions, including muscle soreness and respiratory issues. Cupping leaves distinctive circular discolorations on the skin, which are temporary.
